Northwest Wisconsin’s Source for Contact Lenses

Contact lenses can provide many advantages to eyeglasses. They can even provide treatment for some eye diseases. The doctors at Northview Eye Associates in Hayward, Rice Lake, and Spooner are trained to fit all types of contact lenses—from soft lenses to custom rigid lenses to lenses for costume to lenses designed for overnight wear, we can meet your contact lens needs.

Soft contact lenses:

Soft contacts are the most commonly used contact lenses today. They are commonly used to correct normal vision problems like near-sightedness or astigmatism. They are comfortable and easy to take care of. Even so, they are a medical device and require a medical professional to fit them and monitor your eyes for complications due to the contact lenses. A contact lens wearer should be seen every year to ensure the lenses are fitting the eyes correctly and providing optimal vision for the wearer.

Hard (Rigid) Contact lenses:

Commonly called GPs (Gas Permeable), hard contact lenses work in a similar way to soft contact lenses. However, they can provide some advantages to soft contact lenses as they are custom made to fit the individual patient’s eyes. Our doctors can help you determine if hard contact lenses are right for you. Some patients with high amounts of vision correction or astigmatism will benefit from hard contact lenses instead of soft contact lenses.

Scleral Contact Lenses:

Scleral contact lenses are another form of hard contact lens, but can be used in special medical cases. They are commonly used to treat conditions of the cornea like keratoconus or other causes of irregular astigmatism. In these cases, the vision is often dramatically improved with scleral lenses when compared to glasses alone. We also use scleral lenses to treat complications after a laser procedure or injury.

Specialty contact lenses:

There are many other types of contact lenses that are not listed here. Some of them can be used to treat dry eyes, or slow down the progression of myopia in children. Please contact one of our offices if you are interested in learning more.
